Soppong (Phang Mapa)

Soppong is a small village, located in the Pang Mapa district of Mae Hong Son province on the road 108. Soppong is well known amongst travelers for it’s Tham Lod cave system. There are numerous hill tribe villages in the area, including Lisu and Lahu. Also, a numerous of other caves, less known. One can explore the Tham Lod cave by itself, using the local kids or villagers as guides through the cave. They also carry gas lamp, and know their way in. There is an exit at the back of the cave, and return to the parking lot via a short jungle trek. More info on Soppong activities and tours can be found on ActiveThailand.

Soppong makes it an interesting stop on the Mae Hong Son loop, and there are two great places to stay.
